my 2000 dont have the option, but in the dash it has the wire harness, does this mean i just need the switch and rear bumer with sensors???? where is the harness in the rear?? does anyone know where to get a deal on a rear bumper and sensors???
Maybe cheaper to buy an aftermarket backup sensor product? I've seen them installed in older model suv's and trucks - tap some holes in the bumper (you could add front one's too - which would be useful in my opinion on mine with a brush guard) and have a video monitor inside. Not sure what they take to install but I've seen these for under $200 - I'm guessing less than a bumper with operable sensors in it. Does the dash on a 00 have the spot for the factory switch?
i tried an aftermarket one on my old truck (expy) they kinda suck, nothing like the OEM one, there is a harness for the switch, i would just have to get the switch, so if the harness is there there must be the rear harness, just dont know where it would be. and im not sure if i would need anything else?
If you go "aftermarket" be sure and check the angled adaptor shims in the kit that go between the sensor and the bumper to adjust the sensor angle 90 degrees to the ground before you start drilling holes.
The angled shims in the kit I bought for my 2K X either pointed the sensors too far up (toward the sky) or pointed them too far down (toward the ground). The 2K X bumper does not have a flat enough surface to mount the sensors so they will point straight back (90 degrees to the ground).
A picture would be worth a 1000 words in this post but I hope I explained my point clear enough to understand. Hope this helps.
