Offroading In New England??? Where???

There does not seem to be a whole lot of places to go here in the Northeast. Dam Liberals want everything restricted up here. Evil conservatives like me want to get out and crush stuff! Seriously, the Adirondacks have a few logging trails in the summer. That is the only place I have found. Maybe others can help.

Where in RI? I'm in RI too, up in Providence.
No real public lands, and a lot of the trails are far too tight for our trucks to travel without major body-damage.
A Barrier Beach Permit can be fun:

As for trails in the woods, check out the events category in my club's forums:

You're right near me; I'm off Smith St., near PC.
"Barrier Beach" simply refers to the beaches on the ocean. East Beach in Charlestown is the longest trail you can access in the Summer; there are a few more you can access off-season to actually go on the beach face. There are primative campsites on East Beach accessed by the sand trail, and just a long loop of sand trail that takes you out to the opposite side of the Breachway. You need to air-down your tires to about 12-15psi, and run in low-range,but at least you won't tear up the truck's body.

And yes, it is beach-sand, even on the sand-trails. You can EASILY get stuck out there on the sand, especially in a rig as heavy as ours, which is why airing-down is so crucial to staying on top of the sand.
There are a few other trails around that require 4x4, but again, it would be tough to get an X through there without major body-damage. My X is strictly a tow-rig for the 4x4 of mine on which I don't mind getting some more body-damage:

Exactly.
In fact, you need the park-pass, and then the additional barrier-beach sand-travel permit. Trouble with that is the sand-permits are good from July 1 to June 30, so if you buy one in the beginning of the season, you have to ANOTHER come July.
Good ol' RI...
