I have a 2000 F250 SD 4x4 7.3L XLT that I purchased used. (Build in KY in late 1999) I am about to install an aftermarket remote start/security system.
What I would like to know is: does it have PATS installed or not.
The reason for the question is that the truck has remote door lock/unlock & horn warning/locator. The keys we were given are the thin type (which I've always believed to be nonPATS). In my 1999 F150, (which had PATS ie thick keys) had a white plastic block below the steering column that had connections that ran up to the key location for the PATS sensor. The 2000 also has the same block. I haven't taken the steering wheel shroud off to visually inspect for a taped on key!
To further confuse me is the fact that this truck did not have factory wiring harness that contained the relay & resistor plug for the DRL.
no for some dumb reason ford didnt out that on the super duty but there on the cheap f150 xl, doesnt make any since to me, i heard revelco was great for securing your truck so it does not start or move, its not a alarm or nothin but it disables all the computers
I was also confused as to why a 1999 F150 would have the PATS and not the 2000 F250. Didn't make much sense. Also, note that the instrument cluster in my 250 is mechanical and the 150 was electronic. BTW, the 150 had the intermittent odometer problem (cold solder joint)that I was able to fix.
