I met a guy at the gas station the other day and he showed me the digital read out on his dash that said 25.2 MPG. He is using a Superchips module on his 7.3L and he loves it. My question is does anyone have any experience with superchips and does is actually give better fuel economy?

Welcome to FTE! You'll learn so much in here your head will explode!
Now, to you question... Just say NO to Superchips flash programmers... Go with an SCT and custom tunes from whomever you like. Also, the 7.3 and the 6.0 are both diesel engines, but that's where the similarities stop. Don't try to make comparisons between the two and don't believe every guy at the gas station, either. Read up on things in here and you will come to know the best configuration for your needs.
If I didn't see the digital read out on his dash for myself I wouldn't think it was true. I don't expect to get that kind of increase in mileage, but anything is better than nothing at $4.65 a gallon.

I've used superchips and saw no difference in mileage, you'll be sorry...about $400.00 worth I believe. If you are using this on a 6.0l you might be a lot more than that! $!$!$!$!$!$
Srembrey, I tried the Superchips on my 6.0 and at best it may have improved 1 mpg. I used the Economy mode, the lowest setting, but what bothered me is that the truck seemed to develop a slight 'surge' on the highway. Went back to stock and that disappeared.

They don't even have an "Economy" setting anymore, now they call it "Performance Towing" of course they don't tell you that until after your stuck with it! I never saw more than a tenth or two difference...
srembrey, one thing to remember (or learn) is that tuners tend to alter and fool a lot of the sensors in these trucks...one of them being the mileage readout on the overhead console. The only way to really tell when you're running any kind of tuner is to hand calculate it for yourself. A lot of people get fooled by this and they think that tuners are a cure-all for diesel motors when the truth is that they'll add a lot of power and even help the fuel economy if you can keep from burning the tires up, but that's the only way that they'll help with the fuel economy. I'm running a tuner in my truck and I have noticed an increase in mileage, but that's because I baby my truck.
I have the Superchips programmer for my '04 F350 6.0 , and i went full performance with mine , i was getting 9 mpg in town and 11.5 mpg hwy , now im getting 12 in town and 18.5 hwy average . I have heard that there is better ways to program , but its the best bang for the buck at $350 . I would be willing to try others though , i know there is better .

what he said. funny that the gas station guy actually believes and shows off he is getting 25mpg.
My ScanGauge II shows my instantaneous MPG's as high as 560 MPG's (downhill, coasting, etc...) Yet still, at the end of the tank, it's only a net 15ish MPG's. Oh, did I forget to mention that when my foots in it, the instantaneous MPG's shows .3 (thats POINT THREE)mpg?
I will agree with that. I have a superchip tuner and I was lucky to see any gain even on economy. That was in my 04. I have not tried it in my 07 yet and dont plan to for quit awhile.

I did have an SCMT 1704 running on my previous truck--the stolen F350. The SCMT gave me nothing but massive acceleration, hard shifts and 10 MPG. It was only a matter of time before the SCMT blew the motor up, and in fact, it did. When the truck was stolen it was tuned by the SCMT on performance race setting. Upon recovery and being inspected by the insurance company, the turbo was blown out, the head gaskets were blown--oil in the water, water in the oil--both back tires were roasted to the cord, yada-yada, you get the picture... SCMT bad... thief's bad... slow response by local sheriff department bad... guys who talk $kit in gas station about SCMT obtained MPG's bad...
