I have a 2005 F350 v-10 SRW CC 4x4 SB with 21,000 miles. I park outside while at work for about 9 hours. When I return and leave for home the brakes (mostly likely fronts) groan pretty loudly for about 4 to 5 blocks then get quiet again. When at home during the night the truck sits under my carport and the brakes seem to be quiet the next morning. So I guess sitting out in the open air has something to do with it. I bought the truck used and I am not sure if the ford store that sold me the truck used some cheap brake pad when changing the pads. Honestly, I am not sure if they did the brakes at all. I will call them tommorrow and ask. Anyone had this before and if so what was the fix?
All Ford brakes squeek.... I've got 17k on my truck and they've been making noise since the 3k mark. My 01 chevy with 29k (before trade) never had an issue.
The breaks on my truck don,t squeak or groan.
The dealer ?
Its pretty unlikley they touched the brakes they do a visual and if it looks good go.
Unless you have an old buddy who sells cars, I wouldn,t trust them.
Pull a wheel and see for yourself or get some one you trust to do this for you.
Dealers in my experience want your money, nothing more.
Check to see if the brake fluid has changed color from overheating. This could cause a weird pedal feel and, specialy when humid.
Also, when people (including dealerships) change pads or rotors, they clean them off with brake fluid. Most manufacturers recommended just soap and water as brake cleaner gets into the pads and causes squeel.... I dont know if I believe this or not, but it's what they tell me.
