Can anyone help me with the ID#'s on my Y-Block Heads and Manifold please?
The manifold has the #'s 62Y and ECG-9425
The heads have ECZ-A and 63M
Any assistance would be most welcome.
The vehicle is a 57 F100, I hope to have the block #'s and diff #'s soon. Thanks from Ashley. (-:
ECZ-A heads in 57-58 are for a 272 but have the big (1.92") valves and are from a heavy-duty truck. If the heads are from 56 they are 272 1.78" valve heads from a pickup. Or, if you're really lucky, the same code was used on the heads of the 56 312 Police Interceptor. I don't know what the 63M stands for- maybe someone else will.
The 272 was the common engine in 57 pickups- but your engine may have been transplanted. When you get the block casting # it will help you know for sure.

Hi again and thank you Nate, I have those block #'s now.
Looking from the front of the engine, on the left hand side,
closest to the front there is 60R:3 behind that there is the
#19 then back further to ECG60150, then further back there is either #99 or #66 then at the back still on the left hand side is #33.
On top of the block next to the distributor is the letter F under that is ECG and under that is 01.
I hope someone can help me out, thanks.
Ashley.
ECG means that it is a 272 used in cars and trucks from 55-57. The location of the casting number as you descibed it indicates that it was likely cast in the Dearborn, MI plant. Most Dearborn blocks were used in trucks. All of this info means that there is a good chance that you still have the original motor in your 57 F-100.
By the way- I'm just passing along info I found at http://www.ford-y-block.com/
There is some good, detailed info about y-blocks to be found there.

I hope some one can help me out, thankyou. From Ashley
Thank you Nate, I suppose it is'nt that bad having a 272, maybe I will get some good gear for it. I will have a look at that web site that you mentioned, thanks for all your help.
