OK so when I'm driving I hear a rubbing noise drivers side front.
Now the trucks got 135,000 miles on it so I think maybe time to grease the front wheel bearings.
No according to the Service Manuals I should be able to grease the bearings just have to figure out what tool to use to open up the hub.
I have a 4x2 I've seen posts here saying the front up is a single unit no greaseing the bearings but that was all on 4x4's or mostly on 4x4s and newer 4x2's
The question is if it is possible to grease these as the manual says what tool when you use to pull the hub?
Truck is a 4x2 DRW the diagram in the service manual assumes you have a full shop so working as a shade tree mechanic I of course may simply not have the right tool or this may not be the correct way to go.
What manual are you using Mallo? Front bearings on the 2wd are the old fashioned type. Remove the brakes, remove the center cap, pin and nut and slide the hub off.
The front hubs on a 2X4 are just like any old Ford two-wheel-drive front hub.
Completely serviceable. Conventional inner and outer bearings (race and cone rollers), a grease seal, washer, and adjustable spindle nut with cotter key and cap.
OK then I'm reading the manual correctly just have to figure out how to pull the hub off to get to the nut.
Just after doing a search and finding post after post that they're not servicable I got twitchy.
OK then now to figure out how to get that hub out of the hole it sits in.
Mallo
Use a flat blade screwdriver and tap it between the cap & hub with a hammer. Work your way around, then start twisting the screwdriver to pull it out more. Keep working your way around the cap to open it up on all sides.
You may have to give it a few taps to get it all the way out.

Thanks that's got it. Now to PM the other side and all will be happy.
