when normal driving my 79 f-100 seems to go where-ever it wants to go .I replaced all tie rods and rod ends steering box power steering pump.... Up on the jack it all seems tight what next... thanks Dave
Check where the pitman arm and the steering gear meet. The splines on my pitman arm and or steering box are wore and I have a bit of play there. A bit of play = a lot of wandering.
Also check the rag joint, tire pressures, same size tires... does it wander on nice flat areas, like parking lot, or are you checking it out on heavily grooved road surface?
mine did the same thing on my 77. tighten the worm gear on the steering box. I turned mine down till it was snug and backed it about 1/4 turn. You have to hold the gear with the screw driver when you tighten the nut back down or it will make the gear to tight. It might take you a few tries to get it right.
