I have a 99 Ranger, 85,000 miles. Last weekend I went in the woods and had to put it into 4 wheel high. Ever since then, it wants to stay in high.
When I first start out driving, I can hear that it is in 4 wheel drive. I switch the **** on the dash to 4 wheel high, hear it click, then back to 2x2, hear it click - now it is ok (not in 4wheel drive). Next time I go to drive it, same thing. The light is not on, but it is in 4 wheel drive.
This morning driving to work, I had to switch it to 4x4, then back to 2x2, it was now not in 4 wheel drive. Almost to work, it went into 4x4 by itself. (no light on the dash indicating it was in 4x4). Switched the **** back and forth, and it was ok again.
Just to let yall know... I got lucky. It seems it was just a contact problem. Unplugged and replugged the wires from the transfer case and the problem seems to be gone! Lets hope.
Thanks
