So last night i was driving my truck on a paved residencial road going 25mph. Everything seemed to be going smoothly. All of a sudden my battery light came on. So i keep driving and then my lights started dimming. Then my ABS light came on and i began to hear a "clicking rubbing clanking" sound about everytime my tires would make a rotation. A few seconds later my E brake light came on and it sounded like the bottom of my truck fell out. Then my truck died.
It's now twleve thirty at night. I tried to turn it back on but it just made a very fast clicking sound. I got my flash light and looked underneath and everything looked in tact. My lights wouldn't go off though.
So i called my dad and he came out to where i was. We hooked up jumper cables and tried my truck. The engine started. My radio would not work, and my lights were still very dim. My gauges would not work either. And that same "clicking rubbing clanking" sound was still there. We decided not to try and drive it anywhere. Low and behold it died again right after i stopped.
So it's now about one, one fifteen and i have to call for a tow truck. (Thank you AAA) So it comes after about a thirty minute wait. And we try to put it on the flat bed. It wouldn't go out of park. So we had to jump it again it get it out of park.
So now i'm truckless. I dont know when i'll get it back. I should be able to find out hopefully tomorrow...I'm quite perplexed with what happened
that is deffinately odd....something similar happened to my old ford explorer....was the altrenator if i recall correctly....you will have to let all of us know whats going on with her
yep sounds like an alternator, it sounds like its not putting out proper voltage, causing the dimming lights, dash lights coming on etc. an easy fix if i were you i would do it yourself and save your self some money but probably to late for that now
OK, didn't you just post pics of your truck all muddy? Did you powerwash it? Hose off the engine compartment? Just wondering if something got wet that wasn't suppose to...
