Tie-rod end failure
My son's '99 F-150 recently had a tie-rod end fall apart while manuevering in a parking lot. (passenger side, outer) He replaced all ball joints and tie-rod ends less than two years ago. The tie-rod end had no play or slop, it just fell apart. The brand was TRW and Murrays Auto Parts replaced it under their lifetime warranty. It is very disconcerting to me that this happened and I wanted to let others know.

Seems like that should be brought to the attention of the after market parts manufacturer.

Steve, I thought I replied already once to your questions......
Ball popped out of socket while driving in a parking lot. No warning or slop/play. Tie rod end had letters of "BAT" in the forged end of rod.
My sons truck has 258k on it with a 4.2 liter motor. He babies it for mileage and to keep it going. (he drives like an old man!)
