Yesterday, me and wife decided to go and look at trucks to kill time, we had nothing really to do and decied we look at the new 150s. Went to the same dealer that we always get our vehicles from, ( 6 in the last 5 years) and saw a 06 250 harley davidson. Stock, grey with flames, 22's and 56k on odometer. stickered at 34,995 is a good deal. We agreed on 31,995 and went to finance. I got 2500 more for my trade than NADA and like 10g under NADA price on the truck. We talked and agrued about the price before we settled and they said that is the best we can do and we took it. I get online today and searched other 250s and found a 06 fx4 lariat with 35k, CPO warranty, Bright Red, Gray leather int. for 27,994. Good Deal huh ?? We think so. So for giggles we went to Champion Fords website and saw the Harley that I got, internet price 27,994. and they said that 31,994 is the best they can do. Well Monday when i get off work, im going there and telling them what i found and to give me 1 good reason why i should keep the Harley. It has twice the miles, no warranty, and on top of that 4g more than the other one. Sorry just venting because the Harley looks Great!! but hate to be the bad guy and mean to a place where I get all my vehicles but if the screw me belive me they will never hear the end of it, and i will put the word out online and at work.
Easy partner. It probably is the best you will get with a trade. The dealer is going to trade retail to retail or wholesale to wholesale. It is only the difference in the new and the trade that really matters. If you did not have a trade the truck could have very well sold for 27,994. The truth of the matter is you don't really get what you think you are getting for a trade. I personally never trade because I know how the numbers work. I used to be in sales. People would come in all the time wanting way more for their trade and would want to steal the new one basically. And if you owe $ on your trade, don't think you are getting away with that either. The amount owed is just tacked onto the difference and you would finance it. Probably putting you upsidedown in your new purchase.
I worked at dealers too, they didn't tack on the extra for the trade to the truck, i saw the numbers and they are losing 1,958 and change at the current 31,994 for the truck. My total finance is 33,024 at 8.5% with 0 down. Its still a good deal because there is equity in the truck already, just wish i didn't spend all that time yesterday and looked online and had the 2 dealers fight over the sale.
If you liked the truck and though it was a good deal when you left the dealer with it, in my opinion you should just let it go and enjoy your new truck. Life's too short to get all worked up about it - it seems we always will find a better deal right after we buy something - I guess this is no different.
One thing I wanted to mention Blue Oval, you do still have warranty on the engine. The engine is covered for 5 years, 100,000 miles with a $100 dollar deductible (emissions equipment is 5 years, 100,000 miles with no deductible).
