I have a 1995 f150 with the 4.9L L6.I'm trying to locate to position on the DPFE sensor but can't find it. Anyone have pictures or a Diagram I could use.Any help is greatly appreciated.
Your truck might not use a DPFE sensor. The EGR valve is located just behind the throttles -- if it has a sensor on the valve itself, there isn't a DPFE sensor. If there is a DPFE sensor, there will not be a sensor on the EGR valve itself, and if you follow the EGR feed tube, there should be a pair of small rubber hoses leading to the DPFE sensor.
Thanks for the help. I thought I had one. next question, I have something that looks like dpfe sensor. it's located directly below the egr valve, mounted on the left side of the cylinder head.It has a connector and 2 vac lines.one goes directly to the egr valve (which does have a sensor on top of it) and the other goes to the intake manifold on the right side.any clue to what this is?I'll post some pictures later when I get out of work. Kinda confused me into think I had a dpfe.also the connector is a 2 prong unit. I really hope i don't have to replace the egr valve on this thing, looks very rusty..
That's the EVR solenoid. That stands for EGR Valve Regulator and it looks nothing like a DPFE sensor. There should be one or two more just like it in the same area.
If you'll tell us what your problem is instead of throwing out shots in the dark we can help you more efficiently.
Ok, my problem is a check engine light, which I pulled codes for monthes ago and got 2 egr codes. One was a flow code, other was a voltage.I'm also expirencing poor fuel economy, sluggish performance, and trans shifting hard.
I was looking into getting a new EGR valve and read something about the DPFE sensors going bad a lot more then the valve.I called a local ford dealer and they confirmed what I read.So that's how I got here.
OK, that's what we need to know. Chances are that the EGR position sensor is going or gone. What happens if you connect vacuum to the EGR valve with the engine idling?
I installed a new EGR position sensor 2 days ago with no change in performance or shifting.not so sure on fuel economy yet. But before I replaced the sensor, the check engine light was very intermittent, coming on for only 5-10 seconds at a time.now the check engine light comes on solid after 1-2 minutes of driving and stays on until the key is shut off...
