390/4sd to 390/zf5sd

Has anyone swapped a zf 5 speed to a 390?

I did a search and only found zf swaps for 460,302,4X4. My 390 runs well and don't want to swap it for a 460

The ZF uses an integrated bell housing, and was never built to go behind an FE.
You could use an adapter I suppose-

I already looked into this in the past.

You have to buy the adapter from advance adapters to adapt your origional FE bellhousing/flywheel/pressure plate to the NV4500 trans. You also have to find a different clutch disc to fit the bigger NV4500 input which is 1 1/8 inch 10 spline.

ALso if your truck is a 4x4 you have to buy the t case adapter and spud shaft also.

Yea, forget the ZF.

NV 4500, this outfit sells the stuff, tells some of the story:

High Impact - NV4500 5spd
