Have went through all grounds i've found and cleaned and tightened. cleaned all battery posts, cables, etc. Batteries are less than a year old and fully charged. Afer cleaning and tightening everything seemed to be fixed. Truck has set for about a week and a half. Drove it today and the power windows would work. Power door locks would not work from in the cab or the remote. The radio would not shut off when removing the key. And for a new ones the "Door Ajar" light stays 'ON' in the gauge display. This is getting really to be a PITA. Any more suggestions. I haven't tried the "GEM" thing yet, can someone explain it some more in detail.
the gem is mounted on the back of the fuse box it is like a bunch of relays in one box. i would remove the fuse box and check for water damage check connection if there is water damage leave the lower panel off and try running water from the top of the windshield down the driver side pilar and check for water leaks. that what i did on mine and found my leak the water never hit the floor it ran down the harness and straight to the gem and drove me nuts for weeks all the same problems as you have make sure you grab the harness and check to see if it is wet. wish you luck
Went out this afternoon to check more things out and everything was working perfectly normal again, as for it getting water on the Gem, is probably not a possibilitty because it sits in a garage. On the times this has happened, it came out of the garage and the weather was sunny and warm. I will still check out this Gem situation soon. Anyone else have ideas? I might as well give them a try.
Haven't Got Around To Checking The 'gem' Problem. But Have Noticed A Strange Thing To Add To This. When It Is Cool In The Morning, Everything Works Great. If I Go Out In The Afternoon When It Has Warmed Up; The Gremlins Have Returned And I Have The Same Problems. Any Other Ideas Or Does This Happen With The 'gem' Problems
Lots of things are related to the gem. Off the top of my head I can think of the radio, interior lights, keyless entry, parking lights, one touch down (drivers window), and I know there are other things that I'm forgetting.

It seems like the gem module is reacting to the heat. When it is cool all of the "connections" are made and everything is ok. It warms up "connections" loosten and cause you problems. Electronics do not like heat. That is why laptops have fans and now if you use a laptop on youlap you should use a chill pad. Just my .02!

Gotta add this odd fact, I too have gremlins, but mine are cold weather connected. Same sort of stuff, the radio does whatever it feels like doing, the blower motor works if it is in a good mood. I've been putting up with it for a long time and will probably continue to do so.
Getting Real Desparate Here. Have Gone Thru All The Grounds I Can Find (i Believe) I Have Pulled The Fuse Panel Loose And Have Been Looking For The "gem" And Can't Really Tell What I Should Be Looking For. Can Someone Shed Anymore Light On This Problem. If Anyone Has A Picture Of The 'gem' Or Can Describe It Would Really Help.
Thanks
I did some searching myself and Jim and Barry are onto something. I found this from a respected name here.

The VSS cost $125 and I installed it myself. Come to learn after I installed it, I had to temporarly plug in the old one, have the dealer scan it and re-flash the info into the new one. Nothing but the fobs worked right so if they say the GEM needs programming, it will most likely act the same way. Programming cost me $80 athough the dealer would have charged over $300 to do the whole job.
Looking through the manual it says
Vehicle Security Module
Removal and Installation
NOTE: Prior to removal of the vehicle security module, it is necessary to upload module configuration information to a diagnostic tool. This information needs to be downloaded into the new module once installed. For additional information, refer to Section 418-01 .
So if the VSM is your issue you might see what the dealer charges for just the computer work compared to letting them do the whole swap. We can get you instructions on the R&R if you need them.
DOES ANYONE HAVE A PICTURE OF THE VSM (vehicle security module) SO WHEN I GO LOOKING FOR IT I WILL RECONISE IT. WHERE IS A FUSE OR RELAY FOR THIS MODULE?
THANKS
Chris, you're dead on! I have a similar gremlin issue in my 2002 that sometimes creeps into existence, but I think mine is actually related to the battery and grounding wiring which I will eventually take care of when I relocate my batteries.
From all the digging around I did, I believe the VSM is behind the radio on the firewall.
