1995 Ranger 2 liter

I have a leak comming from a small plastic enclosure between two parallell hoses that look like they are connected to the heating core through the frame. Anyone know what this piece is?

I'm going to assume that you have the 2.3 litre 4 cyl. Those two parrallel hoses are going to be your heater hoses (input and output). They circulate warm water from your radiator, thru the heater core in the cab, and back to the radiator. Your hoses connect to the heater core at (or near) the cowl panel (firewall).

You hopefully have a leak in one of the hoses that only appears to be coming from the plastic box which houses the fan assembly and heater core. The hoses are cheap and easy to replace.

Otherwise, you've got a leak in the heater core. If that's the case, you've probably got some damp carpet around the passenger floor board. Heater cores aren't expensive, but they're usually a PITA to replace. I'm not familiar with how difficult your model is.

Good luck.

Are you talking about a plastic valve in the heater hoses that is vacuum powered and shuts off the heater water flow during a/c operation.
