Shop Making excuses

ok i just went down to the body shop my trucks been there 2 weeks and 2 days. They told me the guy who does the body work is sick and I went in and looked at my truck the only thing they have done in 2 weeks is cut a big hole over one wheel well and sand the paint off on one side of the bed thats it.whats up with that its been there 2 weeks even if someone is sick there should be other people there to do the work.im pretty mad since they told me the truck would be done in 2 weeks and they havent done much of anything if you ask me.what do you think i should do?

Carefull...

two things can happen...

They will either do an especially good job for you (so you will speak well of them )

Or they will get pissed and hurry up & get it out of there...

I'll guarantee you don't want the last option....

first off its your money and your truck-they wrecked other customers cars in the shop!!!I don't know right there that triggers warning sirens.if i were you i'd go in there and ask to talk to the owner. explain your concerns and your feelings about what you've been told, again state EXACTLY what your expecting in the finished project in a timely fashion and won't except anything less. DON"T COP AN ATTITUDE STAY IN CONTROL!!! if the shop senses your a@#hole your truck will either be lock in bodyshop hell or they'll charge you some crazy amount. if the owner is a standup guy he should do one of 2 things finish your vehicle or come to a compromise with the work done and you take it too another shop.

yeah tell me about it when he told me about a worker crashing into other cars I got a little worried he hit my truck thank god he didnt.I didnt get crazy I talked to the manager not the owner the owner wasnt there that day.all I want is for them to finish the truck in the next 2 weeks and I dont see a problem with that cause that means it would of been there a month but when i ask how long it will take to fisnish the truck the manager just says I dont know. That I dont get seeing he sid hes been doing this for 30 years he must know.another question I saw another truck there they just finished and the got over spary on the leaf springs I asked why they dont cover the leaf spring and he said they never do they just paint over them with black spray paint if paint gets on them.does that seem odd they dont cover them or no?

Sounds like you need to find a more competent shop and painter.

You need to talk to the owner. But you do have every right to take it from them and take it somewhere else. But they probably wont let you have the truck unless its paid for. It sounds as if they dont know whats going on though and are good at excuses. As far as paint on leaf springs thats no big deal, especially if the springs get painted black. I would prefer that anyway, but thats me. You can try and cover everything up, but sometimes when it comes to the undercarriage, its just cheaper to paint it black afterwards then to sit there and mask it off. Now if it was a show or rod vehicle, then the time needs to be taken to cover that stuff up.

Go get your truck man! pop riveting a piece of metal is no way to fix anything, much less rust! That shop is totally incompetent.

It's time to make a decision,,, they still have at least two weeks of work to do,, leaving you 5 weeks out ,,,

Start looking at other shops to have it done ...My guess is this won't end well ..

Tell the others what you are up against & see if they can help...

My guess is , they will rush the job now ,& you will regret it for a long time

Pop rivets are not the way to repair anything ,get the truck out of there ,,take the loss & start over ..

Unless you made them sign a performance bond , there is nothing you can do to force them to get it done any faster..

Did you sign a work Order when you dropped it off?...

If not ,, they may not be able to charge you anything for what they have done so far....

JMO...
