I know the tire discussion has been PLAYED OUT on this message board over the years, but thought maybe I could get some opinions on my latest idea.
I own a 2008 F250 FX4 w/ diesel and am currently running BF Goodrich All Terrain 305/65R18 as I have for almost 10 years!! I love the BF Goodrich, BUT they do not make a bigger size. I recently had my truck lifted 2 more inches with Skyjacker Springs up front and another leaf in the back and now want a 35" Mud Terrain Tire.
I have read pretty decent reviews on the Nitto Mud Grappler. The most negative thing I have read is the road noise being an issue for some people. Anyways I am set to have a set of 35 x 12.5 R18 Load Rating "E" put on my truck this coming Monday. There is a truck like mine in town with them and they look BADAS$!
Does anybody have any experience or comments (good or bad) to add to my thoughts on the Nitto Mud Grapplers??????
Can't offer any advice directly on them but I did purchase a set of the Dune Grapplers and they look SAHWEET! I do however wish I would have purchased the Mud Grappler instead. Experiencing some 20/20 hindsight here. I have never actually really heard anything bad about anyone running a Nitto tire as far as tread life goes. I say you'll probably enjoy them!
If you want a tire that is more aggressive than an A/T but not quite as aggressive as the Mud grapplers take a look at these, they are available in your size. They are not that noisey either. Dick Cepek Radial F-C II
They WEAR fast, Buddie of mine had them on his Avalanche and almost wore them out in a summer, I think there a little overpriced to but that's my opinion, Love my MTZ's though. These trucks are very heave and dont do so well off road ( pretty pathetic before i bought my mud tires) with any AT tire, to actually go places off road you will want a 12.5" wide mud tire.

Why does an Avalanche need mud tires is the real question there.....
They will wear fast, that's what I hear about most Nittos. Ran a set of Terras on a truck for 40k and they were toast. Probably should have ditched them 5-10k earlier, but what the heck the truck hardly left the barn by that point.
They's EXPENSIVE to run for looks. You pay a lot for some bling factor with not a lot of performance/life in return.
Compared to the stock tires, they are loud as he!!! But, if you dont think about it, you dont hear it. Mine ride smooth as glass at any speed inculding farther than the speedo reads. They are wearing down fast, but I think they look bada$$ as well, and off road, they are unstoppable. I have 35x12.5

Ya it was a roll over he bought off eBay a few years back and put a 6" trail master lift, painted it a purl wight and about 2/3 of the way up he painted blue mountains on the side ( kind of looks like a bush can. lol) just has the 5.3 in it and kind of struggles to turn the things in the mud IMO. but he loves it so what ever floats his boat. oh and it has 20's
BF Goodrich (my brand opf choice for 10+ years) makes the same size 35 x 12.5 R18 in the Mud Terrainwhich is what I am looking for. BUT the BF Goodrich Mud Terrain 35 x 12.5 R18 is only D rated for weight.
I am set to have the Nittos put on Monday morning, BUT I can always change my mind before then. WHAT are your thoughts??
I Have the Nitto Mud Grapplers, on my 02 F-350 with a 4" lift, the truck looks awesome. It rides great, but yes the noise at 70mph is a little much. When Im in the truck by myself with the Radio loud it does not bother me, but if you need to be on the phone or carry on a normal conversation w/a passenger you notice it.
I have 30,000 miles on them and probally 10-15,000 miles of wear left.
I had a set of 37" Nitto Mud Grapplers on my last truck and I loved them. By Far the best tire I have ever had They were the best In the Mud so I figured that the wear would suck but in fact they lasted longer then any super swamper of procomp I had ever had. I love them and will be getting those on my next tire too. They are noisey...VERY NOISEY!!!... but I love the sound is a real attention getter, when everyone can hear you coming from 10 blocks away! Get the Mud Grapplers you wont be sorry.
