Engine cool before oil chainge?

How long should I let my engine cool off after driving it before changing the oil?

Thanks

Change it while it is hot. You will get more suspeded particles out with the oil and it will drain faster. Install a Fumoto valve and then it will be easier the next time. No cooked fingers or oil down the arm.

Yup! Also, keep your empty gallon bottles from this oil change. It's just SOOO much easier to drain into one jug at a time using the fumoto valve. And, it makes recycling the old oil easy at your local auto parts store.

There is really no difference. Hot oil flows faster, but the suspended particles are sitting in the cold oil that has all run into the pan anyways.

Let's just agree that as long as you are CHANGING the oil, GOOD FOR YOU!

If you are going to get an oil nalaysis, the instructions are to get it hot by operating at highway conditions (for I believe 15 minutes). This allows for more circulation (getting even the oil in the pan into the circulation and heat-up process) AND will vaporize any fuel contaminating the oil from the start-up process. Heavy idling, stop-and-go driving, and start-up apparently are conditions more prone for fuel contamination into the oil.
