Fuel Pump Problems
'88 Lariat, 4.9. I've been burning up fuel pumps. Replaced high pressure 4 times, in tank once. Replaced relay. Ran most test in Haynes manual, OBD says computer is good and nothing is wrong with the fuel system. Only test in Haynes not done is harness short, due to having to pull the tank again. Now the in tank doesn't seem to run. Checked wiring with tank off and everything was good.

try running a brand new heavy gauge wire directly from the fuel pump to a heavy duty toggle switch then to a hot wire and just turn it on when you want to drive the truck and see if that fixes it. if you want to keep your inertia switch then it's behind the brake pedal with the pink wire with the black stripe going to it, just wire through that before you hit the toggle switch.
