I'm about to pull the trigger and order a JW VB from ITP. What I need to know is how long will it take to install? Soonest I can probably get it is Tuesday evening, and we are leaving for a trip Wednesday afternoon so the truck has to be ready to roll by Wednesday morning.
If I were to have the pan drained, dropped, and the old VB out, how long are we talking to put the new one in, torque it all down, and top off with fresh fluid? 1-2 hours?
Also does anyone know if the JW VB comes with the Transgo plate like the BTS to modify shift firmness?
Still also need to get my ball joints done and gauges in too, lots of wrench time this weekend!
If you have the pan off and cleaned, VB out. It should not take you more then an hour to put it all back together and running. Didn't take me long to do mine and I went slow.
I agree, it doesn't take long to do the VB. Just don't overtighten anything. I broke a stud bolt and it took me a while to get a replacement. It doesn't take much to snap them; all you need is about 80" pounds on all bolts and nuts.
Do you have to get gaskets or anything besides oil to do the Valve Body? Sorry to hi-jack but I have one on the way and would like to know how to be prepared for arrival.

The only gasket involved is the pan gasket and it's reusable.
Don't forget you need a 1/4" drive lb-in torque wrench.

You don't need a 1/4" torque wrench... Just put you wrench in the palm of your hand and once you feel the nut/bolt start to tighten STOP, It doesn't take much.
