Just to let you folks know, at long last, I solved the problem. After having changed all rubber hoses, including the dropping and checking both fuel tanks, change of injectors, lift pump, injection pump, injector return lines and plastic fittings, I still had this staring problem. I played around with clear plastic hoses, measured fuel flow and pressure at the schrader valve near the filter, measured compression of the cylinders, changed a starter, because the old one got worn out. Long last, a simple clear fuel hose as the return line from the filter to the injector fuel return gave me an indication where the air entered the system. The connection fitting of the fuel supply to the IP was not tight enough and LEAKED FUEL. The amount of fuel was small enough, that one could not see it trip from the truck, but air raising up the the filter/plastic line gave me the hint, where to look.
This was a real boner and that's why I thought I share this info. with the forum.
