My boss has a 91 f350 he bought new in 91. last year he replaced the injection pump, and now there is heavy black smoke every time he gives it fuel I checked and its getting pleanty of air how can I get it to quit smoking, I ask if he ever turned the pump up he said no.
What is the DB2-???? part number. It may be he has a IP set up for a turbo which puts out too much for a N/A engine. You may want to do the reverse of tuning it up and turn it down a flat on the piston travel screw located under the triangle plate on the pass side of the IP. Did he replace the injectors at the same time as the pump. If they are original they likely stay open too long due to wear, that and a new IP could mean too much fuel!
he didnt change out the injectors as far as him getting the wrong pump I dont know I was thinking about turning it down 1 flat but didnt know if it would cause any problems
hey I live in Latrobe Pennsylvania. If you need assistance and are around the area let me know if you will ever be i am willing to help. it sounds liek the timing is to far advanced.
