Good question Paul. Since the 292 was available in any 55-6 car was it the same for trucks? I only find 239, 256 and 272 in literature but the 292 wasnt mentioned in the 55 Mainline either. You had to ask the dealer for the wagon/Courier, T Bird or Police Package.
Thanks for the info Kenny, particularly the 312 "sleeper" item. Did they have the 2bbl also?
I have a EDB block from a 58 F-600 and was rather surprised to find it a 312. I figured it was a Merc swap since it also had the 4bbl but also had Ford valve covers.
According to the shop manual and parts accessories catalog.....
The 2 bbl was used on the Medium duty engines, and the 4 bbl was used on the Heavy duty and Super duty.
Which brings up another question:
Was there such a thing as a HD 312? I imagine if it was in an F-600 it could be possible, and therefore should have a 4 bbl.
I guess it still could have been a swap in though.
Would you happen to have the vin number of the truck it came from? I'm be curious to see.
