I have a 1995 f150 with a 302, I'm planning on using this truck for towing a 5th wheel. Does anyone have any ideas for perormance upgrades for this truck? I am going to do the KN filter charger and 3 inch exhaust system. I have seen reduced pulleys for the water pump etc., would these help with my paticular application. Any help would be appreciated.

Your on the right track....Check into a set of GT-40 Heads, a FMS camshaft, Roller Rockers, Edelbrocks Truck upper/lower intake, and TB...larger injectors (24#'ers) and undredrive pullies...this could be good for 75-100 hp depending on the heads and cam....
What tranny are you running? How heavy is the trailer (loaded)? What kind of country do you usually tow in?
I would spend my modification money on cooling system upgrades, which rules out underdrive pullies...why would you want to turn your engine cooling pump slower? If you have an automatic transmission, add the biggest oil radiator you can find, ditto for an engine oil cooler. Concentrate on exhaust improvements; Tri-Y headers and the 3-inch high-flow systems are worth the money for low-rpm grunt.
Go to a lower rear axle ratio...Ford included a 3.55:1 as the standard tow package ratio, and I've gone even lower, to a 4.10. My truck's cherry original 8.8-axle 3.55 R&P is sitting in the garage along with its speedometer drive gear. Contact me if you want to buy it all cheap.

Your information is correct. The truck has the standard ford tow package with a E40D trans and
355 gears in the rear. The trailer is a 5th wheel with a weight of around 4500 lbs.. I have been told that the cat back system will help alot. I am also looking into a module to adjust my shift
firmness of the trans. The underdrive pulleys apparently are for the quarter mile crowd and would hurt what I am doing here. Thanks again for
all the advice. Bert
Along with performance, since a half ton was never set up for a 5th wheel(that I know of),you might want to to invest in some good springs for the rear or the weight of that trailer is going to shove your, rear bumper to the ground. Higher load range tires might also be good too.
