I just wondered if anybody new what kinda manual trannies i could fit on a 351 and to get some good power and decent gas mileage while not empying my wallet too bad???
I have a new process 4spd. behind my windsor now. and am about to pull it an go with a c-6. I put the 4-spd in years ago when I was pulling a trailer a lot. it is a strong tranny but not for hot roddin' cause' it's got a granny first gear. I'll be pulling it in the next month or so if your interested. Jim...
The 351w's a small block, so any small-block bolt pattern tranny should work fine. You couldn't get a manual tranny behind a 351 in a F-150. I myself would suggest a 5-speed w/ od. The M50D is a lighter duty tranny, but I've heard its an okay tranny. Otherwise you might go with a heavy duty version out of a F-250 or a F-350. The 4-speed as mentioned above is a strong unit. But I would be weary of mileage.
