I asked about the "Y-block" and here's what he said,
"This motor IS the original motor. The numbers MATCH. It was also identified by a MASTER ASE Mechanic of over 30 years as a "Y"block. SOOOO what can I say."

What are your thoughts?
The "FE" engine is of a Y-block design as the bottom the block extends below the crankshaft centerline, looking at the front of the engine it sort of resembles the letter "Y". However that is all that it has in common with a Y-block used from 64 and prior for V-8 powered trucks.
Looking at the pictures it looks like a nice old truck and it looks like a 352, but with out measuring the bore and stroke you really don't know for sure.
"This is a NICE truck and GUYS--it REALLY attracts the female attention! The first time I drove it, I stopped at a store to put gas in. I went inside, gave the lady behind the counet my money and walked out. When I reached the truck, I heard her say "NOW THAT is a nice ** Truck"-she had followed me out to look at itand offered to trade her camaro for it lol."
I'M SOLD!!!
I saw that a couple days ago - not a Y, but very nicely kept truck.

My thought is that an ASE certification doesn't mean much.
I deal with this mindset every day. Something simply 'must be' because some guy who's turned wrenches says it is so. I must be a complete dolt because I've never worked on cars for a living, yet I know the difference between a Y block Ford and an FE.
"Experts" are everywhere. Most of the time they look like this --->
