Ok The registration says 53 I was told that could be wrong. 8 lug wheels, grill has the "teeth" Did Ford not make a 250 in 53? for some reason i canot put pics on this post Ive even read the sticky
I have a 53 f2 with a 390 in it was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on carb size 600cfm or 750cfm? Any help would be great
You could have a '52 F2 sold in '53, which would explain why the title says '53. In some states, that's what happens. "Teeth" were on the '52 grills. The F250 designation began in '53.
600 cfm is plenty of carb for a stock 390. One of the biggest mistakes commonly made is to overcarburate a motor. A 750 cfm carb is too much for a 390 and will never have a chance for decent mileage of performance. Don't expext much better than 10 mpg from a 390 using a 4 barrel carb.
I really like the Edelbrock 600 cfm carb. Easy to setup, trouble free and good running. It should bolt right up to your 4V manifold.
If you have a 2V manifold, stay with a 2 barrel. You'll like the mileage better and the performance isn't greatly changed by any 4V carb on a 390. 390's are great torquers, but not noted as high rpm performers.
