I'm preparing for a build up of a 351 or 302, for a 1989 F-150w/302. Since the head's will fit on either. Several people have told me to just have them remade, or buy some remade's. Other's have told me to get some 351 head's or Mustang heads. What do you guys think?
P.s. Will a 302 oil pan fit on a 351W?
1989 F-150 4x4 5.0 Aod, 3.55rear/3.54 front, true dual exhuast with turbo's. Ready for a rebuild w/ 146k~!
The oil pans are different. The 351's rail are farther apart.
The bottom line on heads is how much money do you want to spend? 302 heads need the bolt holes drilled from 7/16" to 1/2" to work on a 351 and 351 heads shoud use a bolt kit (Elderbrock?) to use on a 302 even though some people don't use it. The aftermarket heads for Ford is awesome. Remember you have a speed density FI system and are somewhat limited with how far you can go with adds. Especially with cams that lower your vacumn.
LAST EDITED ON 28-Jul-00 AT 01:19 PM (EST)[p]Thanks for the info. My goal is 300hp(truck hp), which would be better? A set of Mustang head's or some 351 heads? Can either work with a Speed Density system?
I'd love to have a set of twisted Wedge heads, but I can't afford that! I guess if you pay more, youll get more?
I'm pretty sure I'll drop the fuel injection totally for a carb/intake combo. I don't want to pay $600 bucks for a mass air system when the mileage would be about the same as a 4-barrel.
