Yes, I flush the lines with compressed air then with alchohol before using. My brother has one of the hydraulic units, and it works so slick I'd never use anything else. No more cracked folds or off center seals. Problem with the cracked folds is that many times you cannot see the crack with the naked eye. You don't know it's there until it starts leaking.
My friend uses the same tube flaring tool to form the lines on his Promod race car, last thing he wants is a seal failure at 230 mph!
I to have the hydro flair kit and it works great as long as you follow the basics pointed out by AX. Also clean the out side of the with a cleaner before clamping it into place. This will help the teeth bight in better and help keep things from slipping.
Now just as important as a good flair tool is a good bender. I have had more problems finding a quality bender than I did a flair tool. I ended up with this one from Blue Point that I got thru my Mac tool guy. I do not remember what I paid and at the time I was so pissed with the others I tried I did not care as long as it worked right, and it does. I do alot of brake work as well as air bag set ups for customers and can not afford to have a problem when it comes to quality of work. Here are some pics of the bender and how it works. I know bender questions were not asked but I feel it is as important as the flair it self so here you go.
