Anybody Put a F150 Cab on Bronco Body?
My son's 85 Bronco (300IL6, 4spd) is badly rusted, mostly swiss cheese everywhere (at least one door ready to fall off), but frame looks solid. He also has a 85 F150 with a bad engine. Very tempting to try to make the F150 cab fit the Bronco frame, then add a small wood bed.
It looks like the 2 front cab bolts are in the same place on offsets from the frame, but on the F150, the rear bolts go straight to the frame, instead of the offsets used on the rear for the Bronco. It would be nice if the F150 cab would bolt straight to the Bronco frame, but it is hard to tell without committing to the project.
Has anyone done this? Recommendations?
Thanks!

ive seen pictures of this before and i know of at least two members that are planning it. The one i saw had several feet cut out of the bronco frame and ran coils and a 4link instead of leaf but there was no mention for body mount location. Since you have both a few simple measurements should answer the question.

Another question. While both vehicles are 85's, the F150 was an automatic EFI 302, whereas the Bronco is IL6 300 4spd. It seems to me that while we can keep some of the F150 dash components, we'll need to move the wiring harness from the Bronco to the F150 cab. Is that right? If so, can you buy a new wiring harness? It would save stripping the Bronco down that far, and it would likely be a more reliable harness.

Do you know roughly the dimensions to fab for the back? The best I've seen is this pic with no dimensions, but he was also using a lift, which I don't think we'll do:
Without any welding equipment on hand, I figure we'll build some sort of wooden temporary model (probably starting with a 4x4 and build up) to get the dimensions right, then take that model to a welding shop. But it would be nice to have the dimensions up front...
