What is this part??

Hi guys i pulled the motor out of my truck a few weeks ago and on the side of the transmission is something that i am not sure what it is. Theres a hose that comes from the block to this part then it moves to the radiator. I have never seen one befor and it looks like it may take warm watet to the trans to be cooled. Then back. I was just wondering if anyone knew what this is. thanks

That's the same tranny I put in my 66. It just won't catch reverse. Always something.
