Which one?

I am looking at buying another bronco. i found three realy nice one's for decent prices. i am wanting lower milage without rust, so i can put my lift on it and keep it nice. i plan on getting it undercoated and applying bed liner along the bottom edge. here are my options, i can't decide which one to go with.

- '96 burgundy/tan w/tan leather 5.8 EB w/65,000 miles. rust just starting coming through above the wheels. $5k (happens to be cfrives' dad's bronco)

- '94 green/white stripe w/tan cloth 5.8 XLT w/110,000 miles. hardly any rust, just staring on gate, definitely fixable with sanding and rust killer. great looking truck! $6.5k

- '93 black w/ grey cloth 5.0 XLT w/ 167,000 miles. ABSOLUTELY NO RUST!!
brush guard, everything on this truck is in showroom condition! $6.5k my only worry is the milage.

I'd rather fix rust than drive-train issues any day. i want to take whatever i get and put the suspension off of my bronco on it. i want to go play in the mud, but keep it clean and in good condition. i plan on gutting it, running my sub wires, installing a vinyl floor, and a manual transfer case. i want a NICE rust-free truck that will last me through college that i can still play with. what do you guys think?

I'd go with the 96 and fix that rust ASAP

Also, they want way to much for the 93 and 94, no way I'd give 6.5K for a 93 Bronco with 170K on the odometer.

I paid 6K last summer for my 96 with no rust, in mint condition with 73K on the odometer.

There will not be as much help here if you go with the 96 as the computer system is different that year but I would go with the 96 and get serious with the rust. Mine is the same colors. A good detail shop will make it beautiful if faded. I paid $5,500 three years ago at 152K no rust then but tailgate rust appeared later and fixed with POR-15. Be ready for rust there also so you may want to go ahead and treat it while at it.

If you are a wrencher, and want to troubleshoot your Bronco, I'd vote for the earlier rigs. The EEC-IV can be diagnosed with a V-O-M. THe OBD-II has a boat load more sensors, and is more difficult to diagnose. THere are pros and cons to the selections are you can see. So, I guess it's the most bang for the buck. You are the best judge of that.

the bronco i havenow is ok.... it has a dent inthe back, right quarter panel, the fenders are rusted through, and there are a couple things i wish i had done different. I recently had a fire, and he trans. is slipping as well. I realy like the '94 w/110,000. i just want to sart over and do everything right ths time, and take care of it. i'm not sure about the '96. the whe reason i got an older truck was so that i could work on it. i'd like to avoid all he sensors.

Will they come down on the price of the '94? 6.5k is a lot for it with over 100k.

he said if im serious, he'll put me in it. i'm not sure how low he'll go, but he has the 94 and the 93, and he has had both for a while, so he's ready to get rid of them. being unique is another part of it.... all black bronco's are a dime a dozen, and burgandy eb broncos are fairly popular, but you don't see many green with whaite down the side.

The 96 has mass air, OBD II, an upgraded transmission - so its the best of the 3 for doing any upgrades to.

they are all autos. that's a good idea. i ran them on kbb and the rust free one was only worth $3800, because of the milage, and the green/wht one was only like $4200 idk how much he will move on the price. there is an all white a '96 i found in Phoenix with no rust, all white with grey leather and the LED blinker mirrors (pretty rare). he said for 6500. its mine. he just had injectors done, and the front end rebuilt.

I agree with UTfball68 and one thing to keep in mind also is the higher fuel prices get the cheaper these rigs will become. Unless you are pressed for time I would search around there are a ton of these for sale now. I doubt anyone will be knocking his door down to buy that truck real soon. He may be willing to come down a little if ya walk away too. I guess I just think that there arent many Broncos worth more than $5000 right now unless it is something really outstanding. Just my opinion, hope that helps, good luck.
