The blower motor resistor is to the left of the evaporator housing, right below the circular blower motor. It's a resistor that defaults to hi only when it goes south. Easy to change. Not sure on gurgling
My 98 Ranger had a similar problem. It had only the lowest and highest fan speed. I bought a new resistor but the problem came back in just a few weeks. It ended up being a bad wiring harness. Good luck.
I agree, it sounds like the blower motor speed resistor pack. Seeing as how this is an 06 model, it's still likely under warranty, so make it Fords problem & let them fix it.
I'm not too engine savy but I just pulled the harness out through the firewall and took off all the coorigated tubing and I don't see a single resistor.
There is a splice orange/black that goes to the blower motor but no resistor.
Is the resistor on the second part of the harness in the vehicle?
The resistor will be plugged into the plastic heater duct with 4 or 5 wires attached.. The air blowing across it helps keep it cool. One or 2 small screws holds it in place
One other thought, the blower resistor is about the size of a credit card, and like I said it plugs into a hole in the plastic heater/AC duct, but I have no idea where on an 06.
Great.... Just went out there and found it. Right between the evaporator and blower like the first guy said. The whole two screws and credit card shape makes perfect sense now.
Will Autozone have something like this or should I shoot by the Ford Dealership?
The warranty is 3 years or 36,000 miles from the time it was originally bought new. The new vehicle warranty is also transferable, which means that even though you bought it used, the warranty still applies (with a few exceptions, including Salvage titles).
While you're at the dealer have them run an OASIS check on your VIN, and they will tell you if you're still under warranty or not.
