I recently had to pull the heads off my truck. After taking them to the machine shop we discovered that one head was cracked and would need to be replaced. Before I go searching for cylinder heads I was wondering if they were interchangeable?
For instance the cracked head is on the passenger side, do I need to find a head from the passenger side of a 4.0L OHV or can I use any 98TM 4.0L cast head despite it being on the driver side?
I also called around to find any used heads and couldn't find any I was wondering if anyone had any experience with "Ideal Cylinder head" ? They seem to have some great prices.
I just ordered 2 heads from Ideal Cylinder Head. They should be coming in the next couple of days I hope. I can let you know how they are and if I have any problems.
I also ordered rocker arms, lower intake and rods on ebay. I have a 97 4.0 Ranger.
I got a call from a "Mike" at ideal cylinder head. He seemed like a pretty cool guy. He explained that there was a problem at the warehouse they ship that cylinder from. He claimed it had already been shipped, but he didn't know what it was. He said he would give me a call later that day to tell me when I can expect it. I still haven't received a call...
I'm just hoping it's here soon. I'm going on 3 weeks without my truck. I like riding my motorcycle, but we've had some severe weather the past few weeks and those rides to and from work have been a pain.
nope ... Yea it sucks waiting for parts.. I would ask for a tracking number. I talked to him also he said mine should go out Tuesday at the latest . I will be asking for a tracking number
I got mine today. The heads look the same as my 98T casting from my truck which is good. I didn't notice any visible differences.
I overlooked the fact that it would not come with exhaust manifold bolts so I need to go down to the local ford dealership and order some. Aside from that I believe I am ready to start putting it all back together.
looking for a couple heads for a 02 4.0 I have 2 that have less than 10k on them complete with the lifters tubes and rockers customer run his truck in a big puddle bent the rods heads a ok
