e fans and pulleys a bad combo?

i have dual electric fans now, which are awesome by the way... power and fuel mileage... my only comcern is if i buy underdrive pulleys, my alternator will produce less power to the battery and my fans are drawing more than stock (as mechanical fans obviously use no electricity) will it be able to keep up??

well it will work for a little while but you will be decreasing the life of the alternator. i would check for a higher amperage alternator. it might not be worth it spending the 150 for the the pullys and the god knows what for the alternator just to get maybe 5-10 more HP.

DaDirty- What brand are your e fans? I've been wanting to get some and was thinking of getting Troyers, but just wondering if there is something cheaper out there. THanks...

i've got dual 15" flex-a-lite fans... didn't really price anything out... i deal with the same shop cuz i love the service and their prices are as low or lower than anywhere in town... i paid $500 canadian for mine... but i drive a lot and with gas prices the way they are now i figure they will pay for themselves in a year or so

Are you running a Flash Tuner? If you buy a pulley kit, you can bump the idle rpms just a whisker to assist the alternator and power steering pump.
