I've got a 302 that I pulled due to low compression on two cylinders. When I pulled the heads the intake valves on the low cylinder were very black, and the exhaust valves were very rusted. This is just as compared to all the other valves. Would this be caused by bad exhaust valves? Also, the exhaust manifold was cracked between these two cylinders for some time, and I understand that can burn a valve. Thanks!
I think you have your answer. I have a 1989 F-150 that still has the 302 with 156k. My exhaust manifold's are cracked on both sides. It has developed a big miss, at low rpms, and the 6th cylinder has low compression. The fuel injectors on that side are just pretty much shot. I have a 302 that's waiting to be rebuilt, I would like to find a 3.25" crank somewhere along the line.
