I got the Volant CAI kit installed last night. All in all it was pretty straightforward. Took about an hour to install (mostly cause the instructions did not have any pictures...I work better with pictures). Took the truck for a drive right after installing it, and I could notice a difference right away. It definitely has more git up n go. It also has a better sound, but it's a real subtle difference. I'm hoping for a little bit better gas mileage, but even if it doesn't make a difference, I'm still very pleased with the performance enhancements. Next items on the list will have to be exhaust upgrades and a programmer/chip. Here's some pics of the finished installation.
shake~n~bake what year is your truck? Looks good to me, I work better with pictures too, guess its a guy thing.
I was thinking about getting one for my V10 too.

Good to hear you got yours to fit. The one they sent me, the bottom holes in the box wouldn't line up because I couldn't slide it far enough to the right because it would hit the cylinder thing on the fender.

Yeah, the fit is very tight. It took a little bit of time to get everything lined up.

That cylinder thing is the charcoal canister for the evaporative loss system...
Hi Gage 2502,
I've located a AFE Pro Dry Cold air intake kit,Do you have one and how do you like it,I have a 2008 SD 6.8 V-10,i can give you the site to order one.
i have a 2005 ford excursion with the 6.8l triton v10 with a volant cold air intake im getting massive amount more air and even mpg from this intake i can take pics and post them if anybody wants to see what the system looks like i also have a volant intake system on a toyota also
The only one I could find for my 09 was an airaid. I call them open element intakes rather then cold air. I always add an outerwears to my intakes as well.

I originally put a K&N CAI with the oil soaked filter. I disposed of it and put a Airaid dry filter on. I would like to get the prefilter cover for it.
