1994 B2300 check engine light

1994 B2300 check engine light
Looking for a computer expert.
1994 Mazda B2300. Everything was running well and then suddenly got the “check engine” light. No change in how it is running. I have a scanner so I scanned and found:
KOEO 111 system pass
Continuous memory code 214 cylinder identification (CID) circuit failure

Tried to clear code with the scanner and also by disconnecting the battery but code will not clear. I am not able to do a KOER—the scanner says “cannot communicate with vehicle”
If the check engine light was not on, I would not know there is a problem.
Anybody know what’s going on?
