I have a 2002 SD extended cab/short bed. Will a fiberglass cap off of Chevy 1500 extended cab/short bed fit my truck (exterior dimensions seem very close)?

I'm pretty sure that in 49 states, it is illegal to put anything Chevy on a Ford. Not sure about South Dakota!
A side note: The two happiest days of my Super Duty Experience was the day I bought a Cap and the day I sold it.
The cap was fantastic, everything I wanted and the color to match.
What I did not like about it was that it weight 150 lbs. So if I wanted to haul something, I had to get a neighbor to help me remove it. Suddenly all neighbors had back issues.
When I got rid of it, it was like I got my truck back. Now I just have a crossbox, and I will never go back.
