Question Adding Sirius to F250

I have a new 08 F250 Crew cab. I am considering adding a Sirius module and antenna. Most likely from Ebay purchase. There are a few ford Sirius modules for sale at times on Ebay. I have the standard stereo, with a single Cd player and an AUX button. Is there a good chance that the wiring is already in place for the Sirius module? I understand it should be near the steering column, underneath and left? What would the plug(s?) look like. Is there something special about the antenna connector? Are the antenna connectors all alike? Can I get any car antenna for this module, if I decide to take the plunge? Thanks for any and all info!

I'm pretty sure the radio has to have the Sat button on it in order to work with the Sirius units. I don't think the regular radios have the programming in them to control it. You will probably have to go with an aftermarket Sirius receiver and an auxilliary adapter from PIE or PAC Audio.

I have a 2007 and used the pie adapter. works great! You push trhe Aux button and it feeds the satelitte radio in. I don't have to change the fm radio channel every hour as i am cruising down thye highway. I got the tip from a fellow forum member as well. This is one the best places for real world answers.

Gary,

I have been told you can do this by a dealer aftermarket installer. I just got my 08 Lariat and I found the plug under the dash on the far left plugged into a holding spot. My Sirius unit (eBay) will be here by the end of the week. I'll try to take pics of the install and post them for you.

I bought an 08 F-250 and that was one of the first things I did to it.. I bought an after market deck for it.. But I was told that I could have ran it off the AUX from the stock radio.. I'm pretty sure the wires are already there.. Good luck!!

Well it sounds like I was wrong. Best of luck to you, and post some pics and part numbers when you do it, if you can, to help others out in the future.

Well Beerstalker from what I've read it doesn't happen too often. I'll keep you posted of my findings. The Sirius unit should be in today.

I'm anxious to find out if you have good luck or not. Also, what about the antenna? Did you order one separate from the module? Do you know if they are all interchangeable?

I don't plan on using a kit. I'm going to try the cheap route. Ebay all the way. That's why I'm curious about the antenna connections. Anyone with any experience in sat radio antennas out there?

You can use any XM or Sirius Magnetic mount antenna with the Sirius DLP (processor)

Begs the question; Sirius or XM ?

(or is that like a Ginger v. Maryann question?)

So, I take that to mean that the connectors are all the same?

I've never had Sirius or XM, but have been thinking about it. So today, I go by Best Buy to check them out, focused on the Sirius. They Manager comes over and we're BS'ing- and I asked about their "I just don't like it" return policy. Says, "30 days". So I bought a Sirius and took all of 12 minutes to install it when I got home. Rather than fiddle and spend money on the wired integration- I'm using the FM dealio and it seems to work just fine. I signed up for the month to month service, so I can call the whle thing off and walk away if I decide I don't like it/not worth it.
