I've seen them go for $150. The Ford Dana 60 would be a better choice. It's also stronger than the Dodge model. Most Dodge models have necked down axle shafts (I have one in my swamp buggy). Some Dodges even have the "Bear Claw" knuckles instead of u-joints in them, and those are not very desirable (weak). Mine is even the heavy duty Dodge snow plow option, with bigger steering knuckles, but still has necked down shafts (they neck down from 1-1/2" near the u-joint). They all have 1-1/2" inner shafts, but the Ford high pinion is the stronger axle.
You dont want a dana 60 from anything 80's and newer though you can't make it work! The spring perches are different and if you were to remount them for our trucks the perch would be in the pot touching the ring gear!!! Find a 77.5-79 model high pinion and your laughin. I picked one up with my brother two weeks ago for $750 for the whole truck awesome deal. Its was from a 79 snow plow model and has the bigger knuckles like mine...
The newer ('80s) D60s would work with the coil front 1/2 tons though. I know where one of those is that may be up forsale soon. Seems he thinks he needs 2.5 rockwells (bragging rights I spose). I would like one in my highboy, would kill 2 birds with one expensive stone (disc brakes, more beef). My brother has a good point though, I am not hard enough on my equipment to need a D60 front. Maybe I just need to find a disc front D44. I am going to be patient and see what happens.
if anyone is wanting i have a p/t divorced gm np205 laying in my shop. was gonna put it in a stretched jeep wrongler (wrangler) but sold the jeep. pm me if interested.
