Your other SUV?

Just skimming the thread on headlights and tailights and saw someone's Excursion pictured along side a Range Rover.

So, I'm curious, who currently has more than one SUV and how does it/they compare with the Excursion?

My dad (Im 18 and still in high school) drives a Lexus RX400h. Technically, its an SUV, but its a totally different animal from the excursion. The emphasis on the lexus is on the 'sport' and on the X, the emphasis is on the 'utility'.

Having said that, the Lexus gets 35 mpg, is quieter, safer, has better leather and has built in navigation and better A/C. But the X is way bigger, more offroad capable, and can tow more.

See, totally different animals, and each is great at what it was designed for.

My other SUV is a 95 Bronco w/almost 200k miles on it--I leave it at my cabin about 6 months out of the year.

Wife has a 97 Mercury Mountaineer with 156k on it. I just replaced the entire brake system, (and I mean entire), and did a complete rebuild of the front steering and suspension. new steering box, pump, rods, idler, pitman, upper control arms, ball joints, bushings, etc.

Rides and steers like a champ. Never needed any work on the engine, a 302.

Gave my Expedition to my mother when I got the Excursion. 4.6L, 1999, 182K miles. Also in excellent shape.

I'm glad I do my own wrenching. I could not afford to pay the mechanics.

So that is three SUV's here, No sign of us getting rid of them, either.

I just bought a 4X4 V-8 Ford Explorer for my daughter. I get to drive
it until she graduates from learner's permit to regular permit.

Overall, best way to describe it, it's simply a miniature Excursion.

We have a Jeep Liberty that we tow behind our motorhome. It has about 13k on it. We also have a Lincoln MKX that we drive the most. Our toy is a 350Z ragtop. I have a 76 Camaro in the garage that I always say I will rebuild someday. I have been saying that for 20 years.

With the price of diesel the Ex gets very little use. It has 16k on it.

My wife drives a 2003 EB Explorer. Pretty good vehicle. The mileage sucks, though. It has a 6-cylinder engine and gets about 17 mpg.

One of my other vehicles is an 03 Chevy Avalanche Z71.

It's basically a chopped up Suburban (SUV) but now has a pseudo bed on it (P/U). Not sure it could be labeled an SUV but it has the Sport (carries my dirtbikes, surfboards, fishing equipment), Utility (carries stuff from Home Depot & Costco. Does its best to pull the trailer.) and Vehicle (uh...) part down.

While gutless in the engine department, it sure does well off-road...for what it is.

Now I have a wrangler again...rather have the Bronco. Jeep sits on 35s and carries little more than a backpack would hold. Tons of fun...
