Of course you can also loose MPG's by going with the 4 wheel drive option that sits up higher. (No this was not a reference to small females with big lifts and a lead foot )
LOL....Hey....if I didn't know better I'd think you were stalkin me! I'll watch for a big dually suspiciously followin me around now...
and on the mileage...I behave Mooost of the time, but what fun is having a truck like this if I can't make a few guys question their masculinity..comon..
But if the truck itself weighs more, wouldn't that have an impact on mileage? Heavier rear end and double meats on back...I would think that'd make a difference with MPGs.
I don't think there is enough weight difference to make any difference as well as wind resistence
rolling resistance is probly the biggest factor
It also provides better stability / sway control and offers better traction and worse fuel mileage. We won't mention how it doesn't quite fit in those "Compact Car Only" parking spaces.
Just park in two. Those little prius' can't do anything about it.

I like my big butted truck and small butted wife. No extra junk in her trunk!!!
Of course it will. Not to mention more wind resistance. I've owned 2 dually's in my life, one POS Dodge and one very nice Ford PSD, but would never own another. I had no intention of keeping the POS so I let the rear tires wear down to not enough tread anymore. On a rain slick highway, going bald duals, are like driving on ice, maybe even worse.
Yep, my wife won't drive the dually in the rain. Part of the problem is I keep the tires at 70 psi for pulling and don't lower it when I'm not. Going around a corner you must go slow and NEVER apply the throttle.
But they are so cool lookin' and they are so much more stable pulling.
My dads got an 05 6.0 dually and he cant stand towing with anything else. The stabilty is really good with them. The lower gears (and the 6.0s got more power) allow him to pull away from me on hills even when hes got a few more thousand lbs than me. cant wait to try the dptuner out next week to see if i can keep up
I had a truck full of girls (6 of us) a few weeks ago and had to wedge myself into this teeny tiny parking spot at an Applebees. U should have seen all of them trying to get out in their heels and whatnot with the door only open about 6 inches. hah.
Well, I may not be abel to pull as much as a dually, but I can attract the women just as good! On a size note; I can take up a parkin space or two myself with the length and width of mine ..............four tires or not, get your mind out of the gutter(LOL!!!!).
With my CC Dually I just take up four spaces. One wheel in each parking slot.
LOL! That is one thing nice living rural areas. The parking lots are generally designed w/ much large spaces than they are in larger metro areas. I notice this every time I travel to large cities.

Ok i'm done. Back to the subject at hand.
All I really know about duallys is that you get 32% more tires to buy & you can haul more weight with em.
You are both 100% right. The stability and sway control of my truck is great. Parking it isn't. I gave up finding a spot by the door. I park out in the boonies and hoof it in. But there always seems to be some one who parks right next to me!

That's why I take up four spaces and park a ways off too. The "modern" city parking lots are made for Morris Mini's and there is no way I would get back out of a single slot without leaving a mark on the neighbor's doorjamb.
The extra space is simply for me to make the corner coming out of the parking slip.

I've noticed this too. It's quite annoying. A lot of times I come out and find 3 or 4 other trucks parked right next to me. Maybe someone should study this phenomenon...
