I just put a 351W in my 78 pick up. I upgraded to the serpentine belt system. I bought a 7 blade clutch fan off a 302 out of an LTD. I know it'll bolt up to my 351 but will th blades rotate the right way? this reverse flow stuff has me confused.
Both the water pump and the fan need to be reverse rotation. look at the belt path and you'll see it moves the pully for the water pump in reverse relative to the crank. you need late model pump and maybe timing cover too if that also was changed (you never know what ford has changed and is no longer compatable). I hope this helps.

I discovered that a reverse water pump has a different bolt circle for the pulley than a regular water pump. If you have changed your water pump and timing cover AND the fan will bolt up to the pulley it just might be turning in the right direction.
OFT, I guess there's only one way to find out for sure, fire it up and check if it sucks air through the radiator and if it pumps water through the block and heads in the right direction. Nothing beats 'doing and seeing' for experience ;-). Good luck.
