irregular idle

When i drive long distances and stop for a rest or something i let the truck cool down but it seems like my trucks wants to die like it is off cycle. when this happens the rpms rev really high then real low is this normal?

A few items can do that, what year is the truck? What oil are you using?

irregular idle

the year is a 2004 and the oil i use is one the dealership uses. this problem happened once before that is when they had a recall with the firing harness but they switch it out. could it be the harness again.

Could be, I had the updated harness and the surging was happening on my truck however surging on my truck is an understatement.
