The factory / rear overhead dvd is still in tact and functions just as it did before. The rear controls, remote and headsets still all work for the rear unit.
The pioneer in the front will play dvd's independent of the rear, if you want it too. I had the sirius and ipod options added, and a $29 device that made the steering wheel volume, etc. work. It also came with a remote. The navigation is dvd based, and there's only one slot - so - you can put your route in and it will hold it, or just leave the nav dvd in, not play cd's (thus the ipod controller added - everything the kids burn onto cd's is in their same music library). There was the option of the 6 or 12 disc changer, but I couldn't find a place where I wanted to put it. All in all this works out best - I am up front - have my nav and satellite radio - kids have the rear entertainment option and / or their ipods -- meaning they wear their headsets and I don't have to listen to their stuff...
It was around $450-475. They were online in other place, truckaddons, etc - if you search by "Mito backup camera" for $100-150 less, but I ordered from all of those places and they never delivered.
I did first try a pioneer camera - about $129 from crutchfield - where we got the stereo. Mounting a stand alone was a problem with as where to put it, and I was going to try the license plate one - but that would have added no value when hauling the toys. This camera solved the problem by exactly fitting the 3rd brake light area and it's field of vision is quite good - I can see the rear wiper on the truck, down to the ground -- and way back.
