How do I remove cruise control switch

I need help to remove the cruise control switches on my 98 ranger 4.0 with air bags. I have a removed the air bag and loosened the switches but can not figure out how to actually remove the switches. It looks like the wiring is behind everything and the switches do not appear to come loose from the wiring, so I do I get the old switches completely out???

Have done it two or three times. No need to remove steering wheel. Just get 2 very small flat head screwdrivers and pry out the cable. Do it on the new part first - on a table to practice. Good luck - pretty easy.

Thanks Kidder! So the cables do actually come apart form the switch - great. If I may ask, why have you done this 2-3 times? Hopefully not on the same vehicle..
