FROM the tranny, or puddling there? Anything else covered with oil, oil pan maybe?
Did you smell the liquid, or rub it between your fingers to see if its oil?

yeah, im 90% sure it isnt oil. Nothing is really covered in anything, it took me an hour to find the leak, and the only reason i did was because there was the same liquid (very small amount) on part of the transmission...

Well I hope it aint tranny fluid...I'm not sure what i'd think about brown tranny fluid...
Is it possible its fluid from the PS pump, if it could trickle down that far? I can't think of anything else that could possibly be brown.
Doesn't the power steering system share fluid with the brake system? If that's the case and it's brown, those brakes are in some serious need of attention, ASAP!
sidenote - how's it looking for that garage? I'm itching for a PSD wrench day and too see if our pups will play nice.

Need to let us know more about where the leak it. If it is coming out of the bell housing at the front of the tranny, it more than likely is oil.

The power steering pump provides boost for the master cylinder, the brake lines still have brake fluid.
Oh, well he said it was "blackish" liquid..I misinterpreted that into brown. But still, black liquid..what else could that be if it's not oil. Also I pretty much figured it wasn't any type of grease, since he said it was a "liquid" at least, something thin enough to drip. Griff is there any way you can describe what the fluid smells like?

Well I think Barry cleared up this question...the only thing I don't know is, if the master cylinder or PS pump were leaking, is if it could drip down onto the transmission.

Oh i'm not worried about the dogs, but the garage plans are slow to progress. I've been trying to get the yard into shape so an appraiser doesn't see my big old double lot of nothin but dirt...but i'm really bad with plants and stuff so I am trying to learn. . Also before we do a wrench day I have some parts I need to order.
Your signature shows that big monster of a superduty, ...and in your album you show more pictures of the giant white truck, but it says its an F250 2004 Triton V10...but your signature says you have a '99 F350. Is the truck that's leaking the F350 or the V10 F250?
Nevermind..I just realized the two trucks are different, but they look nearly identical. You had two trucks with 20" lifts?
Yeah Lisa, I think he has an oil leak or maybe even a fuel leak. I don't know how in the hell he is going to be able to look on top of that engine.
LOL..yeah, but at least it makes doing oil changes a little easier...and I thought I had problems with fitting in garages... I bet there are some bridges he cant fit under...lol
OKAY UPDATE --- a big diesel guy over in my neighborhood told me that its the rear main seal (main/mane ?) He said its not a huge issue unless its leaking badly in which case we gotta get to the transfer box and deal with it ! sound correct?

the v10 is old news, the f350 is my new truck, and the truck in the pic =-)

Don't want to dispute a big diesel guy, but these trucks are very prone to oil leaks and most of the time it will run out of the back of the engine valley, down the back of the engine and out of the inspection cover on the tranny. It looks very much like a rear seal. The rear seal does fail, but it is so rare that most of us tend to forget about that. Climb up on top of you engine with a good light. Remove the plastic cover over you fuel bowl so you can see, Look down into the valley(center) of the engine. I'm betting you will see oil puddled up down there, probably in the back, under the turbo. If so, you have a top side oil leak that is showing up on the bottom and not a real seal.
