Todays project
was to put in the new gas tank on 78. Everything went smoothly and only took a couple of hours to do. Found something interesting in the old tank but not sure how it got there. Its a large cable with a plastic coating.

probably someone checking the fuel level at one time or another, maybe gauge was not workin or they wanted to syphon some out

oh just noticed the pics that was a pretty big cable. also did you put any rubber strapping in between the straps, old tire tubes work good for that

Yup, used some carpeting I had left over from doing the cab.

I`m afraid that the carpeting will retain moisture and rust out where it touches the tank, you`d be better off with rubber.

Looks good.
I don't think I'd paint the frame. Usually if people see the frame the trucks most likely in a ditch upside down.

I personally think it would be a good idea. It always looks so nice when its all clean and painted.

It does, but really unless you are COMPLETLY restoring the truck I don't.

Yeah I guess that makes sence too. Kinda like painting half of the box haha.

I was going to do the parts you can see for sure like the rearend and stuff, and what ryan said makes good sense too, so that may be good enough for now.
